Operation Beautiful

Ever heard of Operation Beautiful? I hadn't either until the other day ... and it inspired me to make a video with Princess.

Is there a woman in your life who simply does not know how truly beautiful she is? Are you that woman?

According to her website, "the mission of Operation Beautiful is to post anonymous notes in public places for other women to find. The point is that WE ARE ALL BEAUTIFUL. You are enough... just the way you are!"

Yesterday, I took Princess to the Nature Center. The sun was brilliant. We had Post-It Notes, Sharpies, a camera phone.

And I had all of the beautiful women in my life on my mind (one in particular, and, she knows who she is). I can't leave Post-Its for each of you every day, so Princess and I made this video ... with love.

(And, yep, we left some of the post-its for others to find.)

I love this. And I have met or re-met so many beautiful women in the past year. You, however, and two others, Jude Rosowski and Tracie Krawczyk, head the list.

Of course, I can not make a video of you or us, but I can just tell you that I love your blog and find in it a real voice, your voice, and this is a rare gift.

You are beautiful, Steph.

Thank you. Truly.

I had this teacher in high school who once told me I had NO HOPE of being a creative writer, BUT, that I had the ability to have my voice heard in my writing.

He also got pretty pissed when I seemingly rebuffed the "gift" and threw stuff together.

He could always tell -- ALWAYS ... (which sucked at the time, but now, is something for which I am eternally grateful).

And, you are pretty beautiful yourself.

Steph that was AMAZING. You and Molly are so awesome for doing that. I cried. As a woman that has always had image issues, this really spoke to my heart. Thank you for taking the time to show you care. You. Rock. <3

It's amazing how raising a young woman has changed me into a feminist. I hope I can help shape my daughter into a giving, caring, strong woman. People like you change the world. M (and J!) are fortunate children. Well done RSM!

What a gift you are to your daughter and an inspiration to women. I love your idea of putting post its everywhere for others to find. I love the video. It is very inspiring. Maybe I should start teaching these boys a thing or two about beauty. :) Thanks for sharing this Stephanie. YOU and MOLLY are beautiful and talented and quite genius.
